The Story Behind the Poetry Book
In My Mother's Voice: The Legacy

A book of timeless poetry encapsulated in the 70's, yet spoken as if they were born (written) yesterday...

A young, African American woman unleashed her creativity when she put pen to paper shortly after the 1968 riots. After submitting her poetry to Essence Magazine and receiving a rejection letter, her creative voice was silenced and the beautiful poetry contained herein this book would not be discovered until after her death in 2020, more than forty years later.

"It was a bittersweet moment that left me awestruck when after her passing I discovered these beautiful hidden gems while packing her belongings, and while it left me with a deep sense of sadness knowing that she never felt compelled to share her gift of poetry with her family, I also experienced heartfelt joy at discovering my mother's hidden talent and knowing that I had inherited this amazing talent from her."
It is my hope that you enjoy her poetry as much as I did when I discovered this hidden treasure-trove of poetry.
